Well....It's Been A While

A month.

An entire month.

That's how long it took me to carve out a moment to post. And to be honest, I didn't really carve out a minute. I'm trying to decide if I'm pulling an all-nighter tonight or tomorrow to finish this stupid memo.

I've chatted with each of you at least a few times, so you're all aware that this is a homework load that SEMO could never have prepared me for. Not only must I read/understand/brief hundreds of pages a week, I have to live in fear of being called on to discuss them!

Ok, so it's really not that bad. I've volunteered a couple times and I've only been cold-called once. It went fairly well. It was in Criminal Law and I did a pretty good job. My anti-happiness professor actually smiled at me, AND when he was leaving the school a couple days later said (in passing, and quite jovially if I may add) "Gotta go walk the dog!!" to which I replied "Great day for that!"

And that was that. I take it as a good sign he feels warmly enough towards me to address me in public lol. But alas, my standards are pretty low.

So Torts is by far my most hilarious class. My professor has the book memorized cover to cover and he's been practicing law for about two centuries. He's bitter. He's grumpy. He's old. I find him hilarious and charming, of course. I post a status on Facebook almost every day of something he said that was just.....oddly and hilariously fitting. For example:

"We're gonna rip this case open and pull the meaty heart from it."

"We find the low hanging fruit, and then we get it. We put our faces in the fleshy innards of the juicy mango and indulge"

"You have to milk the mouse!"

"It's the four parts to the rocket ship...yes the rocket ship! THAT'S IT! THAT's how you get to Mars!!!"

Yeahh......I look forward to that class. It helps to laugh at something, anything.

My Civil Procedure (basically, the rules of the whole game...well on the civil law side of things anyways) is so nice. He's really nerdy, from Minnesota, and is always so happy. I don't know how he's managed to keep a cheerful disposition through law school, actual practice, and now teaching law- but he has. There's hope for us all. He makes you feel really good in class- he'll ask you a question like 'What court was this tried in?' (that's a VERY easy question to answer- it's in the case header) 'Uhhh....New York Court of Appeals?' (which is actually lower than their Supreme Court- we won't go there. NY couldn't just be like the rest of us and name their three levels according to what the crowd was doing. Jerks) I digress. But he'll go "YES!!! RIGHT!!! GREAT JOB!!!" and you suddenly feel like the smartest person ever. And also a little like you got a good hug. I like that class, as well.

There's a lot of drinking here. A lot of people drink every night, many of those to excess. Everyone is getting sick or starting to short out. You can tell, we all look like zombies. God help us all lol. *Counting down the days until May 2015*

Also, I've been doing my laundry at that Duds 'n Suds place. Love it. I can do my laundry, drink, and watch NCIS all at the same time. Well, I've yet to drink. Getting drunk + laundry + bleach seems like a poor combination to me.

I'm exhausted and not sure what I'm typing. I miss you all. I can't wait for Christmas break! And I should be in town for a few weekends prior to that. Just text me :)
